I asked each company of movers that I called for a timetable for our impending move. I explained that I had to be in Los Angeles and ready to start work on the 1st day of September.

The estimates of time that I received from all the movers except one were a joke. They ranged from 5 months downwards and only one said he thought he could do it in under a month. I asked all the movers why they thought the move would take so long and all I got was shoulder shrugs. So I selected the movers who offered the shortest time frame and signed the contract.

In the end we didn’t make it in their one month schedule but it had nothing to do with the movers. There was some sort of shipping strike by the port-workers and the ship sat in the port with our container cooking on the deck. I was terrified when the movers carried all our goods up from the container in LA, expecting to find sun damage to many items, but there was not a mark. The only real damage was to my ego, after all the trouble I took with the schedule.

The boss leans on his hands, glares down the table at me and says, “I want a full construction supervision team in Dalian, China in three weeks. I don’t want to hear how far it is. I don’t want to hear how complicated it is. Go and look for movers. There are movers that will move you anywhere. China is a piece of cake for them. Everyone is moving to China. There are movers out there who specialize in China. Go!”

I stumble from the room hardly able to believe what’s going on. Where should I start looking for movers to get us to China? There is another question as well: where am I going to find a construction supervision team who are willing to move to China, even if I can find the movers? The whole thing sounds like one big impossibility. But even impossibilities happen. I placed a single ad in the local papers and put together a supervision crew. Then I placed another ad for movers to China and I was flooded out with phone calls. There is always someone who is willing to undertake a job, no matter how impossible it sounds.

Strangely enough we tend to consider the profession of movers as a modern profession. However one of the greatest movers was the Roman Republic and Roman Empire. We have to understand the basic activities of movers to understand what the relevance is to the Romance. Well if movers transport goods of all kinds and even relocate homes then the best example is that of the Romans. After all when the Romans battled and conquered foreign peoples, one of the main aims was to ship back home as much plunder as possible. A case in point is when Vespasian fought in the Holy Land against the Jewish uprising. He was later followed by his son Titus. Titus not only conquered Judea and Jerusalem but also plundered the treasures of the Temple. The incredible amount of gold, silver and other hoards of wealth were all shipped back to Rome by his army of movers. The Romans were probably one of the most advanced and sophisticated types of movers for many hundreds of years. After all they designed and
built famous roads to help their movers provide the armies with their wares as well as send back their plundered wealth to the Eternal City of Rome, the heart of the Roman Empire.

Maybe you were walking by the show windows of a moving company recently as so many are these days and you thought to yourself, when was the last time that I really needed moving services. Or maybe you were dreaming about making a move and you thought to yourself, now I better start thinking about which moving services will best fit that type of move. Because you need to fit your needs to the moving services that are available and maybe you want to make a move okay, but there are no moving companies or movers in your area that offer the moving services that you will be needing.

But it is never too late to look into the situation, as it might actually exist in your area, by doing a search for moving services that are available to you in the area were you are living. If you find that the moving services that you are in possible need of are not available in your area than maybe it is time to start a new business, actually open up a new moving company that offers those moving services and then offer them to yourself and move away.

There are nothing like movers to take car of your moving needs when you are in need of movers. It is so much easier to use the services of professional movers than to try to move yourself during those times when it is necessary for you to move all of your possessions and belongs to another location either within the same city that you live in or in another region or country.

Just think about it. What would you do if there were no movers to select from when it was your turn to move? You would be in real difficulty because only when you have your choice of professional movers are you able to feel secure about your move and able to know that no matter what happens you will be insured against the loss of valuable possessions.

On the other hand, there are those who choose to move themselves and to rent the equipment that is needed to replace the services of professional movers. This is not a bad idea if you are short on funds and you are not getting reimbursed for the move by your employer. But most people who move can count on the financial support of some organization usually the one that is asking them to move and that means that they can afraid to use professional movers to carry out their move. Professional movers are always the best choice if you can afraid them.
